Shopkeeper and merchant
Rachel Woolf (1753–1835) owned a house here by 1828. Twice widowed by the deaths of her husbands Myer Moses (1735–1787) and Solomon Woolf (d. 1789), Mrs. Woolf ran her own business as a shopkeeper and merchant while raising her children. In 1833, she gave this property to her daughter Cecilia (1789–1871), the widow of Hyam Moïse (1785–1811) and mother of painter Theodore Sidney Moïse. Woolf was still living here with her widowed daughter at the time of her death in 1835.
